My favourite piece of uncarved jade
Some estimate that only tiny fraction of all jade found is worth carving and only a fraction of that is gem quality. This explains why I am so in love with this piece of Wyoming apple green jade. I bought it, along with a similar sized piece, years ago. The first piece is all used up but I haven’t cut into this piece yet. It might not look like much in the rough but there is a huge difference between a badly photographed piece of rough jade and the finished product, which is why I have added a photo of a piece I carved from its twin, many years ago.
