Pebbles of jade that don’t need carving.

There has always been a school of thought in China that a master carver will spend days, or sometimes weeks or months, considering how to carve a pebble or small boulder of Hetian jade. It is thought that only the most talented carvers can see what already exists inside the stone. There are also stones that don’t need carving. The one pictured here is a great example.
